Well, it has been since forever that I posted a blog, so I decided I'd better get going. This spring has been unusual. Seems like I am always busy, but not seeming to accomplish all I want to. Then I begin to think, do I really need to accomplish all that? How much has our society and world view affected our desires to "do" and "be" so many things? The simple life, pared down, always looks appealing, yet can we realistically accomplish it? My friend, the Rev. Dr. Cathy Myers-Wirt told me a story of her friend who was in her 80's. She owns 1 item for every year of her life. That includes all her silverware, clothes, furniture, jewelry, everything. When she gets something new, she disposes or gives away one thing. It sure would make us ponder prior to making a purchase. I wonder how many thousand things I own. Do they make my life richer? Could I live without many of them? Probably. Am I willing to? Probably. Will I put in the time to sort through all of it and give most of it away? Well, that's a hard one. Where to start? Maybe I could go live in a "Tiny House", I kind of do that when I camp. Everything I need to live for a fairly significant period of time is in my 1958 Aloha Travel Trailer. Yet, there are all those family heirlooms, reminders of people and places....Those are probably the hardest to part with and to decide which to keep and which to pass along. I'm not sure where all this thought is going, other than I know change is coming and although it will be painful and take effort, the reward in the end will be worth it. If nothing else, I'll be able to park my car in the garage!

My Tiny House
